28 WEEKS AFTER
By: Juan Carlos Fresnadillo
Starring: Robert Carlyle, Rose Byrne, Jeremy Renner, Harold Perrineau
Genre: Horror (120 ')
Comment: Dealing with a piece of the critically acclaimed niche is never easy, but Fresnadillo does just fine, returning to the cinematic canon Danny Boyle and forcing their hand especially in the more action scenes.
If the first episode ("28 Days Later") evoked the terror without showing, rather than inspire more claustrophobic and especially psychic anxiety (a theme later taken up, albeit in different genres, always in Boyle's "Sunshine"), 28 weeks after passing the virus back especially for high-action scenes spectacular, where frenzy takes the place of reflection and the horror comes in the eye of the viewer without passing through his brain. The result is obviously slightly worse than the original, if only for the fact that the psychological technique of Boyle was made more difficult film than the sequel-style action movie Fresnadillo. The merits of the Mexican director, however, are different: having made an interesting story somewhat similar to the previous one, have held a meeting in the unconscious of an original soundtrack for the genre (a-rock sound that also accompanies the environmental darkest actions of the protagonists), and above all be able to Never loosen the tension: the film begins with a lot of time in the first frame and, if possible, last reached an electricity even more. Attention therefore also what happens after the credits.
Do not miss: The scene in pure splatter-movie-severed heads of the helicopter. The confirmation that the script for this second installment (but will it last?) Has played very strong on spectacle.
RATING: 7.5
